About the job

You will work as a veterinary nurse across various units within the small animal department (emergency, outpatient clinic, surgery, ICU, and ward) based on operational needs, as well as your background, skills, and areas of interest.

The position involves shifts covering all times of the day, including evenings and weekends, according to schedule. Night shifts may also occur.

Your background

You have at least three years of work experience as a licensed veterinary nurse. Experience in small animal intensive care is an advantage, as is anesthesia experience. You communicate well in both spoken and written Swedish.

You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams but can also work independently. You are driven by providing each patient with safe and high-quality care. Your approach is scientific, with an interest in evidence-based care and an openness to adapting methods in line with new research findings.

You are communicative with a good ability to create and maintain good relationships with colleagues. You enjoy interacting with pet owners in various situations and understand the importance of maintaining good customer relations. You are interested in teaching and participating in creating good conditions for research.

You understand that an event-driven activity with irregular working hours is something you can handle.

As a person, you are positive, solution-focused, structured, able to handle occasionally pressurized situations, have good self-awareness, and a willingness to contribute to the operation. You understand the importance of good teamwork for everyone's work environment. In this recruitment, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

About us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for basic education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal nursing, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our operations cover all animal species within all these subjects.

At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced animal healthcare go hand in hand. We educate tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care to companion animals, performance animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the general public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we are developing the animal healthcare of the future.

Under one roof, healthcare is offered for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, operation-adapted facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS operations also include an ambulatory unit that visits stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
